Fresh changes of water is good for all aquatic life in smaller tanks or pots. Large ones- or, you know, things like the ocean or rivers- are in a constant flow which provides fresh and clean water. Filtering works but it's good to change the water outright now and again.

The leaves are used to make anti-toxins. If we can keep them healthy than we’ll have a good source of that.
Yes, I… I figured if the flowers from before could use my toxins, there's probably other creatures from the forest that could, too. So, at some point, I'd like to try to hand out one to everyone for emergencies…

It is in a pot, filled with an almost comically colorless gray, somewhat murky saltwater. Easily able to assume that it's Terran ocean water. ]

... But... uh. Part of the changing of water is to help remove any organic pollutants, like waste. Which is a thing they do!
